Fit and sizing

Size Guide

All Culaidh garments are cut to UK sizes and measured in centimetres. If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up and tailoring to fit.

Culaidh trouser fit. Our trousers are cut with a wide leg — a considered, modern silhouette that works equally well with heels and flat boots. The waist measurement is the garment's finished waist — we recommend measuring your natural waist and selecting the size closest to or slightly above that measurement.

How to measure

Take all measurements wearing only underwear. Use a soft fabric tape measure held close to the body but without pulling.

Chest circumference

Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Do not pull the tape tight — it should sit close to the body without compressing. This measurement determines your blazer, blouse and vest size.

Natural waist

Measure around your natural waistline — the narrowest point of your torso, usually a few centimetres above the navel. Stand naturally and breathe out gently before measuring. This measurement determines your trouser size.

Fullest hip

Measure around the fullest point of your hips and seat, usually 18–23cm below your natural waist. Keep the tape parallel to the floor.

Shoulder width

Measure from the base of your neck — where the neck meets the shoulder — across to the edge of the shoulder bone. This is a straight measurement, not following the curve of the shoulder. Take this measurement on both sides and use the larger.

Sleeve length

With your arm slightly bent, measure from the top of the shoulder seam — where the sleeve would begin — down to your wrist bone. This corresponds to the sleeve length including cuff measurement in each garment table.

Neckline to hem

Measure from the centre back of your neck — the prominent vertebra at the base of your neck — straight down to where you want the garment to end. This corresponds to the CB (centre back — neckline to hem) measurement listed in each garment table.

Hip to floor

Measure from the top of your hip bone down to the floor. This tells you which length — Regular or Petite — will give you the best trouser break. Regular suits heights of approximately 5'5" (165cm) and above; Petite suits 5'5" (165cm) and below.

Crotch to floor

Stand with feet together. Measure from the crotch seam down to the floor. Culaidh trousers are designed to graze the top of the foot with a clean break — no pooling, no cropped finish.
